For many people, adult life is simple.
First they find a career and then they find ‘the one’. Cue the diamond engagement rings. Then they marry ‘the one’ and they have a family. Happy endings all round.

But it doesn’t take long to work out that life doesn’t always go the way you plan it. You might have a great career but struggle finding someone you want to share life with – you might never have a reason to buy or be given diamond rings.
Or you might be lucky in love but never find your role in life.

You may not be blessed with children, or you might have children and find they have cursed your previously happy and rewarding relationship, and find yourself buying diamonds for someone who isn’t your wife.
Everyone’s life is different. But the best way to overcome the challenges that life presents all of us is to find out as much as you can about the challenge and tackle the problem.

It is also equally important that you know when a problem can’t be tackled and when it is time to accept a situation and walk away.

For many people who are married or cohabiting, the arrival of children can be the most challenging thing that their relationship will experience.
Why is that? Aren’t children the blessing of all relationships?
While few parents would say that children aren’t a blessing and well worth the hard work, they might also admit that it isn’t always easy.

Children mean long, late nights of little or no sleep – and who functions well under those conditions?
Children mean less time for each other and changes which one partner might find difficult to accept. No more spontaneous meals out and no more lazy romantic breakfasts in bed.

So how does a relationship survive?
Experts advise time alone together – one night a week at least. Try to spend some time discussing what a family means to you before the little arrival appears. Remember to communicate and share intimacy as much as you can.
Take care of your health and remember that your children won’t be at home forever, so enjoy these times while you can!
